ROGERS HINDS MODELES 2017

The Bandit

The Bandit was an original template from 1972 which would have been a twin fin. At that time I was using the Guidance Fin System, the fins that you push in and pop back to put the holding clip in place. I decided to bring this back in late summer 2017. I found that this design, coupled with modern rails and a modern rocker in the original outline, works well with all fin configurations and will accommodate bigger surfers on a shorter board.
SIZE RANGE: 5’4″ TO 8’0″
AVG DIMS @ 5′ 10″:
Nose: 17 1/2″
Width: 21″
Tail: 17 1/2″
Thickness: 2 5/8″
FIN SETUP:Single, Twin, 3 Fin, & 5 Fin

The King Fish

When the fish came out of San Diego and other twin fin designs started popping up there were specific outlines that were surfacing on the North Shore that were ideal for the conditions.
SIZE RANGE: 5’2″ TO 6’0″
AVG DIMS: @ 5’4
Nose: 17″
Width: 20″
Tail: 16 1/4″
Thickness: 2 1/4″
FIN SETUP: TWIN KEEL WOOD GLASS-ON, FIBERGLASS GLASS-ONS, FUTURE BOXES

Dream Fish

The Dream Fish is a racier version of my popular Thing series. This surfboard will ride more like performance shortboard by allowing you to get more vertical yet still get you through the flatter sections of a wave because of the wider, straighter outline.
SIZE RANGE: 5’4″ to 8’0″
AVG DIMS @ 6’0″:
Nose: 15″
Width: 20 7/8″
Tail: 16 3/4″
Thickness: 2 1/2″
FIN SETUP: 5 FIN BOX

Acid Fish

This was the last original template I had from 1979 for a single fin. This was right before everyone changed over to thrusters in early 80’s. Bringing this design back with a flatter deck, a forward foil, and a beak nose will get you the high-line speed you’re looking for. This board will also accommodate all the fin set up’s.
SIZE RANGE: 5’4″ TO 8’0″
AVG DIMS @ 5′ 10″:
Nose: 14 1/4″
Width: 20″
Tail: 15 3/4″
Thickness: 2 1/2″
FIN SETUP: 2 FIN

The Assassin

The assassin was a board I originally shaped in 1971, it was inspired by what some of the Australians road in the 1970 world contest in Victoria Australia. The board had a displacement hull bottom, the new version can be built either with the displacement hull or a contemporary bottom. The original was 6’8, 22 inches wide 3 inches thick.
SIZE RANGE: 6’0″ TO 6’8″
AVG DIMS @ 6’8″:
Nose: 15″
Width: 22″
Tail: 15 3/4″
Thickness: 2 3/4″
FIN SETUP: SINGLE, 2+1, 5 FIN

The Assassin 71'

The Assassin 71′ is a replica of what I was building back in 1971. Surfboards at that time had a displacement hull in the nose just like the longboards. It has a fuller 50/50 rail with a slight edge in the tail in the last 12 inches. Its also thicker because of the rails, so it becomes 3″ thick at 6’8″.
SIZE RANGE: 6’0″ TO 6’8″
AVG DIMS @ 6’8″:
Nose: 15″
Width: 22″
Tail: 15 3/4″
Thickness: 3″
FIN SETUP: SINGLE FIN, 2+1

The Thing 2

Part fish, part hybrid, and part performance make The Thing 2 the ultimate one board quiver. Whether groveling in slop or surfing the best waves you’ve had in a while, The Thing 2 will have you maxing out your wave count without sacrificing performance. Great for surfers coming down from fun boards and longer hybrids, or those just searching for a board that will make your surfing sessions more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a versatile, easy to surf yet responsive surfboard, The Thing 2 is a must have board.
SIZE RANGE: 5’4″ TO 8’0″
AVG DIMS @ 6′ 0″:
Nose: 15 1/4″
Width: 22″
Tail: 16 3/4″
Thickness: 2 5/8″
FIN SETUP: 5 FIN

The Aussie V

The Aussie V was the start of my career in the late 60’s. I would strip down long boards and shape them into what was to become the transition era style bored. This board has a displacement hull bottom with a steep V in the tail. The board rides fast and smooth.
SIZE RANGE: 7’0″ to 8’0″
AVG DIMS @ 7’0″:
Nose: 15 1/4″
Width: 22″
Tail: 16″
Thickness: 3″
FIN SETUP: SINGLE BOX OR 2+1 BOX

The Tracker

The Tracker, and it’s non displacement hull, was built for a surfer whose emphasis is good style in good surf. The Tracker wants you to paddle out at Rincon, J Bay or Hanalei, take off deep and go hard off the bottom projecting all your speed down the line and carve a big powerful turn to set it all up again. If down the line high speed fun is what you are after check out The Tracker.
SIZE RANGE: 6’0″ to 8’4″
AVG DIMS @ 7’0″:
Nose: 15 1/4″
Width: 21 3/4″
Tail: 14 3/4″
Thickness: 2 7/8″

The Nomad

The Nomad was the brain child of the Assassin. In 1992, there were not a lot of big guy shortboards available. If you take the Assassin, pull in the tail 1 inch and blow it out to 7’6″, it becomes the Nomad. It has a shortboard high performance rocker. It rides fast and loose, catches waves like a longboard and turns like a shortboard. The Nomad puts the fun back in surfing. Larger planning surface & thinner foiling create a more responsive & versatile board. The shortboard alternative for the longboard rider.
SIZE RANGE: 6’3″ to 9’6″
AVG DIMS @ 8’0″:
Nose: 14 3/4″
Width: 21 1/2″
Tail: 14 3/4″
Thickness: 2 7/8″
FIN SETUP: 5 FIN BOX

PS 65 by Paul Strauch

For the 1965 world contest in Peru, George Downing made Paul two boards, a big wave board and a small wave board for the competition. Paul came in 3rd in the big wave event and first in the small wave event. The board shown in the above photo was the small wave board, and the inspiration behind the PS ’65, a collaborative effort between Paul Strauch and Roger Hinds. The original Downing classic shape has been kept in tact as a classic small wave long board and modernized in the bottom rocker, nose, tail and rails allowing for effortless turns and maximum tip time.
All boards are hand signed and numbered by Paul Strauch and come with a custom “HAWAII” team logo on the deck.
SIZE RANGE: 8’6″ to 11’0″
AVG DIMS @ 10’0″:
Nose: 17 1/2″
Width: 23 1/2″
Tail: 16 1/2″
Thickness: 3″
FIN SETUP: SINGLE BOX

The Malolo

The new Malolo Flyer Model, translated from Hawaiian meaning “Flying Fish,” and known to quickly accelerate and literally lift off and fly with the use of large dorsal fins, is the basis for the inspiration and collaboration with Roger regarding the design elements comprising the narrow nose, rocker, and wide tail section incorporating extremely sharp, right angle rails. Extremely easy to change direction, trim, nose ride, and increase personal confidence and enjoyment. – Aloha, Paul Strauch, Jr.
SIZE RANGE: 8’6″ to 11’0″
AVG DIMS @ 10’0″:
Nose: 17 1/2″
Width: 23 1/2″
Tail: 16 1/2″
Thickness: 3″

The Pig Pin

This pin tail design was modeled after a 1959 Balsa Pig and sports a traditional 50/50 rail as a standard feature, but can also be modernized with a down rail for a bit of a harder edge.
SIZE RANGE: 8’6″ to 11’0″
AVG DIMS @ 10’0″:
Nose: 16 1/2″
Width: 22 1/4″
Tail: 15 1/2″
Thickness: 3″

The Dream Step Deck

This surfboard was the model for the Ultimate Craftsman Project and was inspired by a 1967 Skip Frye shape. I wanted it to be really pinched all the way through the board, something different than any board you’d come across in a surf shop. The base model comes with a single stringer but can be custom ordered with special wood glue ups, pinlines, deck patches, and more.
SIZE RANGE: 8’6″ to 11’0″
AVG DIMS @ 10’0″:
Nose: 17 3/4″
Width: 22 3/4″
Tail: 15 3/4″
Thickness: 3″
FIN SETUP: SINGLE BOX

The Glider

The Glider is not your grandfather’s longboard. This board was designed to provide the rider with that old school feel and glide while providing a shorter turning radius off the tail to push the limits of progressive modern day longboarding. Whether cross stepping your way to the nose and trimming your way down the line at your favorite point or floating sections at the local beach break The Glider can take your surfing where you want it to go.
SIZE RANGE: 8’6″ to 11’0″
AVG DIMS @ 9’0″:
Nose: 17 1/2″
Width: 22 3/8″
Tail: 15 1/2″
Thickness: 3″
FIN SETUP: SINGLE BOX

The Classic

This is a perfectly constructed 1966-1967 noserider. With three stringers, a custom tailblock and unparalleled 50/50 rails, this masterpiece sings with style and defines the exact classic and genuine longboard that’s been cruising San-O and Malibu for decades.
SIZE RANGE: 9’0″ to 11’0″
AVG DIMS @ 10’0″:
Nose: 19″
Width: 23″
Tail: 16 1/2″
Thickness: 3 1/4″
